Daddy has really been looking forward to this day as it is
the beginning of our trip to Springmill State Park, though Daddy isn’t sure
Mommy is all that jazzed about it. Daddy thinks the two of you are excited
about our trip because you both know about the indoor/outdoor pool at the state
park Inn where we are staying—you both love to go swimming, but especially you
Bodhi. We have been watching the Olympics together, and you keep telling us
about events you want to compete in, Bodhi, especially swimming and gymnastics
and volleyball!
On our trip down we stopped in Bloomington, Mommy and
Daddy’s favorite city—home of Indiana University! We visited at the Bloomington
Welcome City and we learned there is a great children’s park—Cascade’s Park—and
it was incredible! Mommy and Daddy marveled over the children’s park and the
two of you were mesmerized by the incredible playground! If Kokomo was truly
progressive, we would have children’s parks to match this one!!!
After our visit at the park, we made a brief stop in the
downtown Bloomington business district where across from the courthouse is one
of Mommy and Daddy’s favorite shops, an emporium for world market crafts—Mommy
purchased a ring for you Bodhi, and some chocolate for each of you. Mommy also
went to a nearby artisan shop and purchased a silver tree pendant for a
necklace.
From Bloomington, we continued our journey south past
Bedford, finally arriving at our destination in Mitchell, Indiana home of
Springmill State Park and the American hero Gus Grissom—an astronaut who lost
his life in a spacecraft tragedy. We checked into our room, found a local steakhouse
for dinner, then returned to do some swimming before bedtime. The water
temperature was cool, which surprised Daddy given how hot it has been all
summer, but we all had a blast especially Ms. Bodhi.
After our swim, we made our way into town and
found an ice cream place and got a treat for all of us, then made our way back
to what you referred to as our new “house” Jude and welcomed a night’s sleep.
