Today was Jude’s first haircut! We have been anticipating
this day for some time, and today was the day. Bodhi, we got you dolled up to
go visit Grandmoo, so Daddy ran you over to her house while Mommy and your brother
continued to get dressed. Daddy tried to quickly get some preparation for work
done, but first had to get gas---long overdueL,
then headed back home to help with the Viking Prince. You and your Mommy were
ready, Buddha, and you answered your Mommy with an affirmative that you wanted
to ride with your Daddy to the barber shopJ.
Mommy of course got photos of us going to the car and beginning our journey.
You and Daddy continued a discussion all the way there, and when Daddy tried to
turn off the Ringo Starr Sentimental Journey cd, you quickly demanded “turn it
back.” How incredibly funny, and/or ironic, is thatJ? You also kept asking where
was Mommy, so Daddy assured you several times that Mommy was following right
behind us in her carJ.
GiGi met us at the barber shop on South Lafountain Street in
a shopping strip across the street from the Honda/Ford dealership, where a
friend of hers and Great Papaw’s was our barber. Mister Bob Ritchie was a
remarkably kind man who many years ago cut Uncle Tony’s hair for the first
time, and Mommy intended to replicate the photo shot of Uncle Tony during his
first haircut, so plans were in place to take pictures of GiGi and Buddha, the
barber Mister Ritchie and Buddha and Daddy and Buddha. The barber shop was
jammed packed, and Mister Ritchie suggested it may be a while and asked if we
would prefer to come back in the afternoon, Mommy and GiGi decided to stick it
out and wait. Daddy had to leave to hurry to get a few more things accomplished
and then returned in time to get startedJ.
Daddy admits he was apprehensive as the long wait had taken
a toll on your patience, Buddha, but honestly with the help of a piece of
chewing gum and a sucker bribe and the general kindness of Mister Ritchie and
reassurance of Mommy and GiGi, everything turned out perfect. You sat patiently
and for the most part quietly and still on Daddy’s lap while Mister Ritchie
inaugurated you into the first man’s haircut leagueJ. Both Daddy and Mommy agreed
that we didn’t want to sacrifice your gorgeous long, white wavy curls so we
asked that we stick the project to a mere “trimming.” As could only be the
predicted outcome, you looked gorgeous when the project came to an end!!!
Mommy also later in the afternoon had her hair cut and
styled and Daddy’s verdict is she is hot, hot, hot!!! Daddy wanted to smoochie,
smoochie with Mommy but she wouldn’t have any of thatJ.
Bodhi, you of course reported after our reunion that you
negotiated a new “Dora hat” out of Grandmoo during your visitJ. You told us you liked
your brother’s haircut, but as usual we expected you to be kind and generous in
your outlook, you always are (unless you think something or someoneJ physically “stinks”J).
