Hot Dog!

Today was blistering hot, a continuation of the kind of summer it has proven for most of the country. Daddy and Mommy have both been feeling the effects, headaches, stomach aches, muscle cramps—so we have been especially attentive to the two of you to make sure you are not getting over-exposure outside.

Today was the usual Saturday morning, Daddy tired but hurried to get off to work, and by a little past 10 a.m. home to escort the two of you along the mellow brick road to adventure. Mommy had both of you dressed in light clothes, and we armed each of you with ice water, then off to the Farmer’s Market we went. Actually, we first walked to the downtown post office to do some business for Mommy, then back the few blocks we had just passed to return to the Farmer’s Market. We strolled slowly through the outdoor market and enjoyed some Amish lemonade and a chocolate chip cookie, which the two of you were in a race to consume before it melted, not in your mouthJ, but instead in your hands and on your face.

After a leisurely stroll through the market, we slowly made our way to Foster Park, making a pit stop along the way at the downtown Walgreens to purchase a couple of bananas for our park snack (and Daddy thought the bananas might help with the muscle cramps). We were at the park a mere thirty minutes, and it became evident from the appearance on the faces of both of you that the heat was taking a toll. So, we began our leisurely return trip to get home to our cool air-conditioned homeJ.

By the time we got home, we all were truly spent, Mommy made lunch but it was evident there was more active fatigue than appetite. Daddy made off for a shower, and afterwards Mommy had to go to an appointment so Daddy got the two of you down for your nap.

After naptime, Mommy took the two of you outside for some swimming fun, it is incredible to watch your mother look after the two of you and provide you such outdoor fun and supervision. After swim-time, it was upstairs for baths and into your pajamas, but before heading to bed, you both accompanied Mommy to Aunt Dianna's house down the road.  Aunt Dianna told Mommy to go inside and grab a pair of plastic panties while she was away... Mommy reports that you two tried lifting all the toys out of the house.  Mommy also reported how beautiful their home is, it's one of the original homes that Mommy and Daddy looked at but we weren't certain if we'd be able to revert it back from three apartments to a single home. It's one of Mommy's  favorite styles of houses, and she reports it's beautiful! You two were very hot and wore out when you returned home.   It was a long, hot, hot, hot day and (other than Mommy who stays up incredibly late every night) it didn’t require much coaxing to get us off to sleep.
