A Mellow Brick Road...: Diaper Dandy

A famous college basketball commentator and game announcer, Dick Vitale, refers to young up and coming talent as “diaper dandies.” Well, today Buddha you were a diaper-less dandy as Mommy scheduled an entire day with you to address potty-trainingJ.

Bodhi, you and Daddy were up quite early as usual and enjoyed our breakfast together, and afterwards GiGi came by to pick you up and take you home for a good part of the day, and then after naptime Grandmoo was going to spend time with you at her house.

Daddy attempted to get a few things done around the house (frankly, not much motivation) and spent a few hours in the afternoon at Uncle Rudy’s visiting Uncle Mike Huffman and Uncle T Wilson. When Daddy got home he and Mommy whipped up dinner for the three of us, and later Buddha you and Mommy went to pick up your sister Bodhi at Grandmoo’s. Sean Franky and Ariel stopped by and visited with Mommy, while you napped Buddha.

Mommy will fill in the details of the diaper-less initiative and share some of what she learned about Bodhi’s day with GiGi and Grandmoo—she is undoubtedly worn out as she expressed early in the day that this was a trying experimentJ.

As always, this day was a love-filled day for two very special angels, and once again a long day coming to a close.

Our Day Juders:

Step One: Get Bodhi out of the house without you noticing.

Step Two: Demonstrate with your "girlfriend doll" how to go potty using a suringe filled with water and big girl panties.

Step Three: Show you and re-introduce you to the "rewards" of going potty on the big boy potty... candy, candy, and more candy, pop, stickers, and a new play dough game set (Mommy wore an apron filled with candy ALL day :)

Step Four: Set and re-set pig timer every 15 minutes the ENTIRE day

Step Five: Big Boy panties hee/hee and 10 additional pairs on hand

Step Six: Praise, high fives, smiles, hugs, singing, and dancing

Step Seven: Repeat again tomorrow (day 2)

Step Eight: Keep going the rest of the week, trying to keep your interest

Step Nine: Throw away diapers

Step Ten: Throw away pull-ups at night and move you into your big boy bed

Well, you loved your day with Momma and you didn't mind trying out this new potty deal. You were willing and you were happy doing it, so that tells Mommy we've got to keep going until you get the hang of it :) You amazingly only went pee three times up until evening time (and you didn't potty during your nap) and you pooped once. This was highly unusual, you usually have at least two morning poo's and countless wet diapers. Mommy thought for certain you were poo'ing and pee'ing during nap time once Mommy put a pull-up on you, but you didn't :) You managed to poo/one partial poo in the potty, and you went pee pee on the floor all three pee's hee/hee, but by the third time, you instantly recognized what you had done, where as the other two times, Mommy had to point it out to you. Mommy told you how proud I was of you, and decide to take you to pick up Sissy with me, and show off your big boy panties to Bo. Well, of course you dumped in your big boy panties and made Bodhi gag the whole way home. She was so disgusted with you, not to mention tired and upset with Mommy for waking her up ha/ha This potty plan warns not to leave the house the entire day, except for maybe a super quick trip. Sure enough, you had saved up all your poo's for that very moment :)- Once home Mommy started dinner and Daddy started the grill. After dinner Mommy had to leave you behind with Daddy to tend to Dora Kitty and Baby Ella who had been neglected all day long. Mommy had to clean their litter, feed them, and give them fresh water in their automatic water thingy... Mommy does this every weekend. Mommy had put you in a pull-up since it was nearing bedtime... again, it was as though all of Mommy's diligence to keep you going potty on a time schedule went out the window. Daddy didn't put you on the potty once in the hour I was tending to the kitties, and you had went pee an entire diaper full. Uggggh!

Mommy upset, took you upstairs to lay down with me for a little while before going night night. You were distracted by Ms. Allie, so you only laid in Mommy's bed for about a half hour, then it was off to your room. Mommy is super proud of you Buddha!

Bodhi, you made Mommy laugh. You were asking why Mommy was wearing an apron, and what was in my pockets. Mommy said that it was my big boy and girl potty apron. I explained that every time Buddha went potty, he got to pull out a treat. Bodhi, you then said, "Ohhhh, so that is why Bubby has been gonig potty on the big boy potty!" Word for word, with an expression of enlightenment on your face to follow. You are so darn precious!

PS Mommy never did get a shower, nor did I change my clothes from yesterday... UGGGGH!

Big Boy! Big Boy! Big Boy! You also mastered tucking your fire hose today Buddha :) Bodhi, you thought it was hilarious when Mommy told Bubby to tuck his fire hose, and you tried to help eewwwww!
