Today marks the first day, May Day,
without our Great Uncle Dan. So, Happy May Day anyway! At least that was my initial attitude toward
today. That soon turned around with a
simple wake-up call…
After staying up until about after
3am, most of which was spent visiting and crying with Grandmoo about Great
Uncle Dan’s life and passing, Mommy did not want to wake up this morning. Daddy awakened Mommy and handed Mommy the
phone, ugggggh! It was Aunt Dianna! Dianna wanted Mommy to get out of the house
and go for a walk, expressing what a beautiful day it was outside. Initially, Mommy opted to stay in bed, but
Mommy knew Daddy probably wasn’t going to go along with that plan, plus, Mommy
was given another day and Uncle Dan was not, I needed to make the most of this
beautiful day! Mommy sent Dianna a text
stating that “we” (Mommy, Bodhi, and Jude) would be down to her house in a
few. We were going to start May Day off
right, Mommy felt Uncle Dan’s presence and we were going to honor our Great
Uncle Dan!
We headed on our adventure
(Bodhi, you with only one good arm). We
took Dianna some extra vegetables we had left over after planting our
garden. We walked downtown to the post
office, and then to a garage sale on E. Sycamore Street. After Dianna bought some cool finds, we then
headed on the walking path, through the cemetery. We made a quick stop so that Mommy could pick
some of the largest dandelions I had ever seen, and then we continued our walk
through the cemetery, stopping to pay respect to Dianna’s Momma.
We all headed to a nearby park
where you and your friends spent some much needed energy. All of you complained of being hungry,
luckily Aunt Dianna brought some snacks, but you all managed to suffer through
ha/ha. Bodhi, you had a rough time
trying to play. You wanted to play but
your arm kept you from playing hard as you usually do. Jude, you managed to get into every mud
puddle that remained from the recent flooding (so you essentially took a dip
into poop particles). You even decided
to go swimming inside of one of the tunnel tubes on the play equipment, causing
Mommy to remove your shorts because they were muddy and soaked.
We then packed up the strollers
and decided to go eat at the new Subway shop right down from our house
(downtown). We were quite the
sight…pant-less Jude, shoeless Bodhi, messy babes, sweaty Mommas…all 8 of us! We managed though, and we all enjoyed a
healthy meal together. Mommy then had to
rush to get home. Dianna offered to keep
the two of you while I took Grandmoo to get her hair cut. You both wanted to stay and play with Kota,
Norah, Nate, and Ro, so Mommy left you behind with instructions to behave J
Mommy rushed home and drove over
to pick up Grandmoo. Mommy had marked
some pictures of haircuts on Pinterest that Grandmoo, plus, Mommy had told Aunt
Lacey that I would be joining Grandmoo, so sweaty and nasty, Mommy had to
go! Aunt Lacey ended up giving Grandmoo
the first haircut she has ever been pleased with J and Mommy got to catch up with Lacey and
Caitlyn. After Mommy finished, Mommy
drove to Dianna’s to retrieve you two. Bodhi,
you ended up icing your arm the entire time Mommy was gone. Mommy called Daddy and had him get you in to
see the doctor. Buddha, you went
Grandmoo and Mommy to run some errands.
Mommy went and picked up Dianna’s garage sale items, picked up rent
money, dropped Grandmoo off at home, and then returned home. Jude, you passed out on the couch. Bodhi, you came home with Daddy shortly after
your appointment. They took x-rays of
your arm, Daddy had to accompany you because you were scared L We won’t get the results until tomorrow.
Dianna brought Rowan down so she
could go run some errands. Jude, you
could have went with Dianna’s other kids- to their church for p.j./movie night,
but you didn’t want to go without your sister or your Momma. Bodhi, you and your brother helped Mommy
entertain and take care of baby Rowan.
Grandmoo arrived back over (per your request Bodhi) and she played with
you both while Mommy held Rowan ha/ha
Rowan let me put her down once, but then she insisted that I hold her
the entire time her Momma was gone J We spent the rest of the night outside
playing, gardening, mowing, and planting.
Daddy has not been feeling well so he slept in on his office floor all
evening and night. Thanks to Grandmoo,
Mommy managed to get our yard mowed and the cat house air conditioner installed
J
Mommy found enough energy to bath
the two of you and put you guys to bed.
Mommy wanted to watch a movie that Aunt Ti had recommended, but Mommy
didn’t have enough steam left. We were
literally outside ALL day, and Mommy is so sore ha/ha! Sean Franky stopped by around 11:45 p.m.,
worried because all the doors were open, lights on, and cat house light on
ha/ha…Mommy explained that I was in the process of closing us down, but that I
hadn’t quite made it yet J
Happy May Day! I know Great Uncle Dan was with us on our
outdoor adventures today…checking out Kokomo and reminiscing about his
childhood-just from a new perspective J
PS Mommy is still not ready to post yesterday’s
blog…Great Uncle Dan’s tribute.
I'll add pictures to this entry once Dianna sends them to me!
