Jude’s First—The Iconic First Haircut!!!

Today was Jude’s first haircut! We have been anticipating this day for some time, and today was the day. Bodhi, we got you dolled up to go visit Grandmoo, so Daddy ran you over to her house while Mommy and your brother continued to get dressed. Daddy tried to quickly get some preparation for work done, but first had to get gas---long overdueL, then headed back home to help with the Viking Prince. You and your Mommy were ready, Buddha, and you answered your Mommy with an affirmative that you wanted to ride with your Daddy to the barber shopJ. Mommy of course got photos of us going to the car and beginning our journey. You and Daddy continued a discussion all the way there, and when Daddy tried to turn off the Ringo Starr Sentimental Journey cd, you quickly demanded “turn it back.” How incredibly funny, and/or ironic, is thatJ? You also kept asking where was Mommy, so Daddy assured you several times that Mommy was following right behind us in her carJ.

GiGi met us at the barber shop on South Lafountain Street in a shopping strip across the street from the Honda/Ford dealership, where a friend of hers and Great Papaw’s was our barber. Mister Bob Ritchie was a remarkably kind man who many years ago cut Uncle Tony’s hair for the first time, and Mommy intended to replicate the photo shot of Uncle Tony during his first haircut, so plans were in place to take pictures of GiGi and Buddha, the barber Mister Ritchie and Buddha and Daddy and Buddha. The barber shop was jammed packed, and Mister Ritchie suggested it may be a while and asked if we would prefer to come back in the afternoon, Mommy and GiGi decided to stick it out and wait. Daddy had to leave to hurry to get a few more things accomplished and then returned in time to get startedJ.

Daddy admits he was apprehensive as the long wait had taken a toll on your patience, Buddha, but honestly with the help of a piece of chewing gum and a sucker bribe and the general kindness of Mister Ritchie and reassurance of Mommy and GiGi, everything turned out perfect. You sat patiently and for the most part quietly and still on Daddy’s lap while Mister Ritchie inaugurated you into the first man’s haircut leagueJ. Both Daddy and Mommy agreed that we didn’t want to sacrifice your gorgeous long, white wavy curls so we asked that we stick the project to a mere “trimming.” As could only be the predicted outcome, you looked gorgeous when the project came to an end!!!

Mommy also later in the afternoon had her hair cut and styled and Daddy’s verdict is she is hot, hot, hot!!! Daddy wanted to smoochie, smoochie with Mommy but she wouldn’t have any of thatJ.

Bodhi, you of course reported after our reunion that you negotiated a new “Dora hat” out of Grandmoo during your visitJ. You told us you liked your brother’s haircut, but as usual we expected you to be kind and generous in your outlook, you always are (unless you think something or someoneJ physically “stinks”J).

By the time our long day winded down for everyone, it was time to get some sleep in anticipation of our getaway to our state park swimming vacation. It proved to be a momentous day, captured as always by Mommy on her Nikon for all to see for all timeJ. “Night, night!”

On our way to the Barber Shop to see Mr. Ritchie :)

Ot Ohhhh!  Arriving at the Barber Shop!!!

Both in shock ha/ha

"I don't mind sitting here so long as you don't touch my hair sucker!

Slow Moving Monday

By the time Mommy made it inside last night, everyone was asleep.  Mommy was left to do the nightly chores, take care of all the four legged family members, and get everyone ready for Monday morning.  Mommy finally made it to bed at 12:30 a.m. with the alarm set for 6:00 a.m.  Mommy has to work in Lafayette today, ugggh!  Well, Buddha, you decided that you didn't get enough Mommy time and so you awakened at 1:00 a.m. crying for "Momma, Mommmy, Momma, Mommmy!"  Mommy went and got you and you told Mommy, "go to your bed Mommy."  Mommy got you back to sleep and back in your crib (I couldn't sleep with you rolling around ha/ha) only for you to wake up every hour on the hour until Mommy's alarm clock was going off.  Mommy's eyes swollen, back aching, I grudgingly made it downstairs to start the coffee.  Mommy, absolutely exhausted and oh soooo sore, decided that the shower I took at midnight would be good enough for this Monday morning ha/ha  Bodhi, you were up with your Daddy and followed Mommy into the kitchen.  You were amazed Mommy was awake so early, it was so cute and you made Mommy smile when you said oh so sheepishly, "Mommmmmy, what are you doing?"  Mommy reminded you that Mommy had to go to work, and that you and your brother would be spending the day with Grandmoo and GiGi.  You instantly started "raising the roof," with your little happy dance that you do :)  You then said, "Mommy I want you," which melted Mommy's heart.  Mommy gave you a hug and told you I had to get ready for work.  You went to sleep on the couch.  Mommy did some Yoga in place of a shower so I could stand up straight when I walked ha/ha, Mommy was hurting!!

An hour later GiGi arrived and Bodhi, you were chomping at the bit, asking where Grandmoo was hee/hee  You were going to spend the day with Grandmoo and Jude, you would be with GiGi and Gi-Pa.  GiGi packed you both into the car, she took you, Bodhi to Grandmoo's so Daddy could make an appointment with the dentist before work. Daddy ended up getting the root of his tooth removed and stitches, ouch!  Mommy was then off to work and Daddy off to the dentist.

Daddy's procedure made him so sick he ended up vomiting all over himself, so he called in sick.  Mommy worked for 6 1/2 hours in Lafayette, but Mommy's last appointment cancelled last minute so Mommy came home early.  On my home I called to tell GiGi and Grandmoo that I would be picking you both up early since my appointment cancelled but neither of them were ready to let you two go home.  You both went to the park, Bodhi, you went to Foster, and Buddha, you went to Highland.  You both adore GiGi, Gi-Pa, and Grandmoo and you always have a blast with them.  Both Mommy and Daddy crashed and caught up on some much needed sleep.  Daddy ended up going to his Family Service job, and Mommy made a drop (the last for this particular family as their case will more than likely be closed tomorrow).

When the evening arrived, you to helped Mommy water some plants and then accompanied Daddy inside to snuggle in for the evening.  Mommy then got you both tucked in and sleeping soundly in your own little beds :)

Jude, you are getting your first haircut tomorrow :) Mommy has a crap ton of stuff to get done in preparation for our mini-getaway, and in preparation for your Saturday birthday party :)  The timing for our mini-getaway couldn't be worse given that Mommy will only have a half day to clean and decorate for your third birthday party, but we all need to getaway oh so desperately!

Sweet sweet dreams my sweet sweet babes!  Mommy, like Daddy, always counts her blessings each and every night... 1 Daddy, 2 Bodhi, 3 Buddha, 4 Mr. Arlo, 5 Ms. Allie, 6 Baby Ella, 7 Dora Kitty...so on and so on!

The camera followed Jude to GiGi's, so Bodhi there aren't any pictures of you today :(  You probably enjoyed a break from the Mommarazzi!

You took Bodhi's dish washing spot today Buddha...

Little man!

"Look, I'm scrubbing them with this!"

The bucket was for play, but it also blocked the view of your  fire hose, it appears! ha/ha

Yep, Mommy's pretty sure you had some nakey pool time, your first time skinny dipping! :)

A Rough And Tough Sunday!

Today was a rough and tough Sunday, as Mommy spearheaded our work on our backyard patio projects. The day started was a loving greeting from two precious toddlers, and you Jude Liam expressed to Daddy emphatically that you wanted me to make you breakfastJ. So, Daddy made the two of you and Mommy some waffles and syrup and coffee (not for babies) and apple juice.
Around 9:30 a.m., as scheduled, Sean Franky showed up to assist on the patio projects and he and Daddy went outside and began clearing the two areas for patio development. Wow, it was hot and the work was physical! Daddy lasted for about two hours, then Mommy joined us to take over Daddy’s spot and the two of you and Daddy stayed out back for a while. Jude you love to play with all your assorted backyard toys, so you stayed with Sean Franky and Daddy (boys only) while Mommy and your sister made a run to Menards to get needed sand and materials. The two girls looked adorable pulling away in our pick-up truck, and Daddy should have been on top of his game and captured that photo moment—but as everyone knows, Daddy has not been on top of his game lately (and sadly for some time).

Daddy broke another tooth last night at the gum line, and the physical work really put a toll on Daddy’s back and body—Daddy had indescribable cramping and muscular distortion on both of his hands which was almost as though they were paralyzed—except they hurt!!! And of course, Daddy fails miserably had not becoming grouchy when he is hurting.

Daddy took the two of you inside for a movie and lunch, and then later made spaghetti and butter for the two of you for dinner (you wanted Hello Kitty spaghetti, Bodhi, so needless to say Daddy obliged youJ). Jude, you were a little terror at dinner, throwing spaghetti everywhere and making a general mess and Daddy was so frustrated with you he kept putting you in time-out, then the two of you would conspire together to outsmart Daddy and encourage one another to be stinkers—which just inclined Daddy to be even more of a grouch. Daddy owes both of you, and Mommy,  an apology.

Mommy and Sean Franky didn’t even stop for lunch, and Sean Franky (bloody nose and allL) left around 3:30 p.m. so Mommy made a solo run to Menards for some finishing pebbles. The project turned out absolutely beautiful, though Mommy is not happy, especially with one section—in part because Mommy is a perfectionist and in part, I think, because she is legitimately exhausted.  Mommy didn’t come inside until 10:30 p.m.

You both are looking forward to time with Grandmoo and GiGi tomorrow, so off to “night, night” for everyone, except Mommy (who never restsL). Love, love, love---Daddy needs to remind himself and count his blessings…one, Mommy, two, Bodhi, three, Buddha…love, love, love.

Bodhi, when we returned from the store (loading and unloading 18 bags of sand and 5 bags of top soil) Franky had cleared the sod from patio number one.  You and Jude assisted with packing the dirt down :)

Franky supervising the dirt packing sessions between you and your little Buddha :)

Buddha's turn!  Buddha had been swimming in his clothes while we were gone, so he made everything muddy ;/

Mommy's little workers :)  The home improvement "Grills" gene in full force!

Mr. Arlo Supervising and keeping track of our supplies :)

Mommy laid every single slate piece in both patios and boy was it a job! I mistakenly didn't wear gloves and my hands are a mess!

Franky laid the landscaping fabric on the second patio while Mommy worked on the first :)
Mommy will take pictures of the finished patios later!

Flowers and Shopping

Oh Saturday!  Mommy is trying to remember what we did yesterday, I really need to stop writing these entries the day after because my mind can't keep up (sadly).  When Daddy arrived home, he took you two for a walk in the carriage to the Farmer's Market.  Mommy had to get reports down for work, so unfortunately I didn't get to accompany you guys :(  Luckily, Mommy got her reports done in record time and when you all arrived home, Daddy reported that there were some flowering hydrogenous (if that's how you spell it?) that Mommy had to go and see.  Mommy, without a shower headed back downtown with you two and Daddy.  Daddy sure did find a winner.  We bought three of the most beautiful flowering bushes, they looked like wild flowers and the flowers get as big as dinner plates!  Mommy did some dealing and managed to get a fourth flower free for Grandmoo.  This plant is the plant Grandmoo has wanted for years, as we've seen them around town, but we could never figure out what they were or where to get them.  Since we had four plants total, Daddy took you two for a walk while Mommy ran our flowers home and Grandmoo's flower to her.  Mommy picked a red one for Grandmoo to match her door.  Needless to say, she loved it!

Mommy hurried back downtown to retrieve you two and Daddy.  We then made a mad dash before nap time to get Mommy some craft supplies to finish various projects for our house... oh boy, more projects!  We picked up some lunch afterwards and headed home.  You two initially went down for a nap, however, you Ms. Bodhi decided that you weren't going to nap.  Sean Franky and Ariel stopped by to visit and Bodhi, you were all over Ariel.  You were actually in a great mood for not napping.  After Franky and Ariel left, Mommy took you outside to go swimming.  Mommy sat with a chair in the pool and cheered you on to slide down the water slide.  You always hesitate going down the first time.    Chase, our neighbor boy climbed to the top of our fence and started yelling and asking us questions.  Bodhi, you thought this was hilarious, Mommy and Daddy thought "damn, we didn't build our fence high enough" hee/hee  Bodhi, you asked Chase to come over and before we knew it, both Chase and Autumn were over.  Jude, you when you awakened Daddy brought you outside to go swimming too.  Neither of you lasted very long, and so back inside you two went.  Mommy stayed outside to plant our new plants and rearrange some of our flower beds.  Sister Kelly, Brother Aaron, and their friend Corey stopped by and visited with you both.  By this time you were a fussy mess Bodhi.  Jude, it wasn't long before you were ready for bed too.

Daddy said you kept yelling for Momma, Jude.  So, Mommy came inside and tucked you both in bed.  Mommy headed back outside only to discover two hours later, you both were back up with Daddy.  Daddy said you had been crying for your Momma, Buddha :(  So Mommy carried you back up to bed and rocked you to sleep.  You were so sweet, sleeping with your lips puckered, Mommy kept kissing them and you'd smile :)  Bodhi, Mommy had to either lift you off the couch and put a plastic cover on the couch, or slip you into a pull-up, so Mommy slipped you into a pull-up and you freaked out (of course, you're just like your Daddy, obsessive compulsive about things, like socks, undies, etc...)  It wasn't long until you fell back to sleep, in Daddy's arms.  Mommy did my nightly chores, wrote Friday's blog, and then passed out.  Sunday is going to be rough day, we have decided to go forward with our slate patio project :(

Nighty night my sweet babes!!! Don't let the bed bugs bite!

Fussy Princess! :(

Playing Nice

Friday, Friday, Friday!  We started our morning with a huge helping of waffles, which we haven't had in quite some time, yummm!  You two were happy with breakfast and it fueled you all morning long.  Mommy woke up with a horrible headache that felt much like a hangover, something that happens frequently when Mommy goes to bed too late.  Mommy secured Mr. Arlo where he wanted to lay comfortably, and then you two had the run of the entire house.  Daddy would have lost his mind watching you two run around.  Daddy's a nervous worrier when it comes to you two.  Mommy loved watching you two haul ALL of your toys downstairs, despite that clean-up before nap time was going to be a  bear, but you two were having so much fun and playing together so well.  You two consoled one another when ever either of you acquired a boo boo :)  Mommy played various games with you, but when I stopped to give my head a rest, both of you would say, "come on Mommy!"

When lunch time rolled around you both were starving.  Mommy let you two choose what you wanted to eat, and of course you wanted mac and cheese, but neither of you ate very much.  Then it was time for nap time.  You two were excited for the evening, you both had been told that you two would be going to GiGi's and Gi-Pa's house while Mommy went to work for a few hours.

Daddy arrived home from work and snuggled you both as you awakened from your naps.  Mommy put several top coats on our dining room table (we are going to start having family meals together now that we have a table).  Daddy agreed to take you both to GiGi's so that Mommy could get cleaned up for work.  Daddy has finals and papers to grade for his summer classes, so he needed some alone time to get his work done as well.

Bodhi, you woke up so cranky, this unfortunately is becoming the norm!  You fussed and cried about anything and everything!  It was only when you arrived at GiGi's that you were no longer fussy.  Mommy and Daddy have been pulling our hair out with you horrible evening moods Ms. Bodhi!  Jude, you always wake up happy, however, if Sissy is unhappy, you too tend to get fussy :(

GiGi and Gi-Pa made you both a huge dinner and GiGi was happy you two ate well.  You played outside at GiGi's, riding your tricycle and Dora bike :)  Once Mommy got done with work I called to let GiGi know I was on my way over to pick you guys up, but GiGi reported that you two wanted to stay longer (two hours was no where near enough GiGi and Gi-Pa time.  Bodhi, you were washing dishes and you announced to Mommy over the phone that you had went poo on the potty, and that you "don't wear icky diapers!"  Though you are now officially potty trained, you still love getting positive potty cheers :)

Once home Mommy gave you both a bath and then you two settled into bed.  Nighty night my sweet moonbeam and sunshine :)

Mommy Day!

Even though it's 3am, technically Friday, Mommy figures she better do Thursdays blog before she forgets everything we did together today!  Mommy got up when you Buddha awakened.  Daddy warned Mommy that the AAA Fence folks would be coming back today at 11am to collect their fees and cover some remaining posts.  Our fence looks amazing!  Mommy got in the shower and you two played (nicely) with one another.  Mommy got you both dressed and was assisting you both with brushing your teeth when GiGi surprised us all...she walked up the stairs and gazed around the corner.  You two went bonkers.  You both wanted to abandon your Momma and go to GiGi's, but Mommy wasn't having it.  Luckily, you both took the "no" answer very well.  After getting us all cleaned up, Mommy started some laundry and we all played together.  After lunch you both went down for your naps.  Bodhi, you fought taking a nap, so you curled up in Momma's bed and watched "Tree of Life," with Mommy.  Once the movie ended you decided that you would then take a nap in your bed.  Of course Jude, you woke up as your sister went to sleep.

Mommy took you, Jude outside and you played with your bubbles on top of your slide while Mommy mowed and did lawn work.  We had a major scare during this time.  Mommy heard a little girl crying and she sounded identical to you, Bodhi.  Mommy immediately ran to the front yard yelling, "Bodhi!"  Mommy was freaking out because I could hear you but I couldn't see you!  Mommy decided to check in your room, just to make certain that you were outside, and luckily, you were still asleep.  After mowing, landscaping, and hanging some decorative touches on your new fence, Mommy started dinner.  Grandpa called to say he would be coming over for a visit, but we decided that milkshakes weren't a good idea because you two are full of snot and we didn't want to make it worse on the two of you.  When Daddy arrived home from work he took you, Buddha to the store to pick up diapers and deodorant for Momma! Bodhi, you finally came to and came downstairs where Mommy fed you dinner.  Daddy and Jude ate theirs when they arrived home from the store.

Grandpa came over, as promised, and Mommy headed to work for a while.  I also made a trip to the store to pick you two up life jackets for our State Park swimming adventure :)  When I arrived back home, I got you both dressed and you accompanied Mommy on a mission to find a stencil.  Mommy is amazed at the number of people who do not know what a stencil is, and no one in Kokomo carried any :(  The only store we didn't try was Hobby Lobby, because we got there at closing time.  You two went to Lowes, Big Lots, and Walmart with Mommy looking for a stupid stencil.  Though Mommy didn't find her stencil for our dining room table project, you two made out with a little treat because you both were so well behaved.  When we finally made it home at 10pm, you both were more than ready for bed.  Bodhi, you started out in your own bed but while Mommy was cleaning the cat house, you decided that you were going to have a slumber party with Daddy. After you all were settled in, Mommy went to work on my nightly chores and finished step 2 and 3 on our dining table project :)  Mommy is tired!!!

Mommy didn't get any pictures of you two today :(

short fence in front yard...

Mommy put up some frames on our fence :)

Round 2 & 3 of the dining room table project :)  It now looks like a $2000.00 Sundance catalog table!

Love these legs!

Mommy added some fun birds on top of our table for some added whimsy :)

Weary Wednesday

Today was a very weary Wednesday for Daddy, he is obsessed with being so far behind in his work, which always happens at the end of a semester. This summer session has been particularly difficult because Daddy hasn’t been feeling well, anxiously anticipating surgery on his back, constant toothaches and headaches. On top of all that Daddy is being paid by the school to complete a special project and he is so far behind on it as well, it is all simply taking a toll. Yuk…it is such a weary Wednesday, by the time Daddy sat down to do this blog entry he could barely remember any details of the day.

We are all looking forward to our fence being finally finished, so we can get some final touches on a few summer projects before summer is gone. All the posts have been in place and today the good men from the excellent Triple A fence company are busy at work in the heat finishing the project---it is obvious it is going to look magnificent!

Mommy spent four hours today at the Humane Society, and the three of us never even got out of our pajamas—just playing and watching movies together. It is a treat watching the two of you interact and sit in amazement at how incredibly intelligent the two of you are.  Thank goodness the two of you had an interest in watching Chicken Run instead of Rio for a change, Daddy is definitely burned out on Rio for a while.

We didn’t do well at nap time today, so the two of you were rather fussy through the evening. Mommy made us dinner and took the two of you outside to play while Daddy worked, though you got in so much trouble, Buddha, for biting your sister that Mommy put you summarily to bed in your room and shut the door and literally ignored your crying for nearly an hour. You are headed for regular trouble young man, if the biting routine does not come to a quick end! You were really a good girl, Bodhi, for having so little sleep. Though you went to bed in your own bed, midway through the night you were up and came down and joined Daddy while he continued to work and you ended up sleeping the rest of the night on the couch.

We are all worn out, and Daddy is clearly suffering burn-out. Goodnight precious angels. Soon, the summer term will end and we will go to a state park for a few days. Daddy is looking forward to it perhaps more than anyone! “Night, night!”

Buddha, when Mommy checked in on you after putting you to bed for biting your sister, a couple of hours later... you instantly awakened, reached your arms out, said "Mommy I'm sorry," and officially broke your Mommy's heart!  Mommy got you a drink of water, rocked you, and put you back in your bed after completing our nightly routine!!!

Sucker Sucker!  Our house is freezing cold yet you are naked and sweating ha/ha!

Tuesday Unplugged

Mommy finds herself saying, "wow, what a day," quite frequently these days ha/ha  Our morning started with a storm outside which resulted in a storm inside.  Our lights, air, and televisions all shut off, and Bodhi, you immediately went into "freak out" mode.  We don't pay much attention to tv in the morning, but the background noise has served as a major comfort to you, so when the tv turned off, you became very concerned.  Mommy explained to you, Bodhi, the storm had knocked out our electricity therefore there were things we couldn't do, and boy were there a lot of things we couldn't do.  Jude, you kept saying, "Mommy fix it," and "get Daddy to fix it." ha/ha  You were much easier to calm than your sister though.  So, we spent our morning, just like every other morning (minus power) playing and running around.  Bodhi, you would not leave Mommy's side.  You kept saying, "Mommy come with me, I'm scared."  You also said, "Mommy, our house scares me it's too quiet."  So, you two were glued to Mommy.  Mommy was constantly reassuring you both that everything was ok, and that the power would eventually come back on.  However, hours went by and still no power.  When lunch rolled around, Mommy didn't have any way of feeding you two, and our groceries were going to go bad soon, so Mommy couldn't open the fridge and stare in as I do most days ha/ha  Mommy called Daddy and he was more than willing to get us all, including himself, some lunch.  We all had chicken sandwiches, which you two actually loved :) Lunch was about the only success of the day!

Nap time was another ordeal.  Usually you both fall asleep with your televisions on, and if not tv, at least some music.  Needless to say, neither of you went down for a nap very easily, and Mommy was needing a break from you two and your meltdowns big time.  Mommy finally got you both down for a nap, Jude, you in your crib, and Bodhi, you in Mommy's bed with Ms. Allie and myself.  Since you both went down late, you both slept late, causing Mommy to have to push back her appointment for work.  Once you both were up, Mommy got you two packed and dressed to go to Grandmoo's while I went to work.  You both were super excited to go to Grandmoo's and hopeful that Grandmoo had electricity.

When Mommy picked you up two hours later, Grandmoo was feeding you both a late dinner.  Mommy ended up waiting an extra hour for you two to finish your dinner and then your ice cream.Grandmoo reported that you, Jude, are an absolute crazy man!    When we arrived home, you both were excited to see Daddy and Sean Franky, but Daddy and Sean Franky were leaving to return the whole bean coffee that Mommy mistaken bought the day before, and this resulted in you, Bodhi, having another major meltdown.  You wanted to go with Daddy and Sean Franky, in Sean Franky's new car so bad!

Once Daddy and Franky returned, you both went inside to visit and chill out in the air conditioning, in front of the tv.  Mommy who had "had a day" with you two, opted to stay outside in the humid heat and pull weeds ha/ha  Yes, I chose pulling weeds over dealing with anymore night time meltdowns.  When Mommy finished, Jude, you were in bed :(  Mommy hates that! And Bodhi, you were laying in on the couch with Daddy.  You were waiting for Mommy to come inside and asked that I tuck you into your bed :)  After I got you settled, Mommy went to work on our dining room table... first coat complete!  Sweet Dreams my sweet sweet babes!  Mommy and Daddy love you two to the moon (and back)!! :)

Ice cream for the crazy man!

Jelly Bean wanted a bite, and you gave her several Buddha!

Grandmoo cleaning you babes up, and it took several wash cloths!

Bodhi trying to fix Grandmoo's light, the one that you broke Buddha!

Such a good big girl!

I almost forgot to take a "before picture!"

Round ONE complete!

It won't look anything like this when I'm done, but I LOVE the rustic barn wood and 1920's legs I picked out :)  A very unusual combination of course!
