The Saturday morning started as most do, Daddy got off to work early, though Mommy had an opportunity to sleep in a little. Emilia and Jude, it seems the two of you are starting to get up a little earlier than usual (well, not you Jude, ‘cause you are always an early riser), Daddy thinks because of Mommy’s new work schedule and getting the two of you off to Aunt Ti’s.
Daddy brought Mommy and Bodhi some wild flowers home from the Farmer’s Market downtown; he stopped and bought them on the way home from work. After Daddy got home with the flowers, we decided we should all go downtown to the Farmer’s Market to see if we could find some fresh eggs. Sure enough, we found a very nice merchant, an Amish farmer, who was selling fresh eggs, so we bought two dozen---and a small peach pie, and some lotion for Mommy, and a dress and some headbands for Bodhi, and well…next Farmer’s Market trip will be a Jude focused tripJ Anyway, Mommy and Daddy wanted this to be a special Saturday as part of our 4th of July weekend, so Mommy and Daddy hurried to get some chores done while the two of you slept during your nap, then afterwards we went on an adventure to Purdue-land.
Grandmoo said she would come over and check on Mr. Murff and Mr. Arlo, so we made off to Lafayette, where we visited a “hippie” store which Mommy and Daddy like to go to when in town, it is on the edge of the Purdue campus, and we all like college campus atmospheres! Bodhi, you are definitely developing a fondness for the store as well, as you gleefully ran around looking over its eclectic merchandise and played by hiding amidst hanging clothes displays. And Jude, you were smug as a bug with your Daddy holding on to you the entire timeJ
Afterwards, we briefly visited Hobby Lobby where we also enjoy going from time to time, Mommy especially enjoys an occasional visit when we are in Lafayette, as the manager and an employee of the Kokomo Hobby Lobby were rude to Mommy and Daddy once, and once is too many times in the Grills-Holsapple lexicon—we are a bit like the outlaw Josie Wales, we live by the feudJ Bodhi, you were a stinker in the Hobby Lobby so we decided to cut our visit there short.
We then went through the drive-up of a Pizza Hut and parked and had a snack of breadsticks and re-grouped. Afterwards, we went to the huge Target store in Lafayette, genuinely one of Mommy’s top stores to visit. By the time we were done, we left Target and found a restaurant to get Mommy one of her favorite burritos, and then headed home. We were hoping to get home in time to watch some fireworks, and to see if Sister Kelly wanted to come by again (she had stopped by earlier in the evening and phoned Daddy while we were in Lafayette). But, we could tell we were in for some stormy weather, the radio broadcast we were listening to was constantly being interrupted with national weather service storm alerts.
Nothing fully prepared us for the tumultuous ride home however! The pouring down rain and continuous lightning storm was dramatic, to say the least. Daddy was frankly worn out from concentrating on the drive, and Jude was intermittently crying and uncomfortable as well. Fortunately, Bodhi, you slept through it all (though it is a wonderJ), as you have recently been terrified by loud noises and such. We got home quite late, Grandmoo was looking after Murffee and Arlo and she told us we missed quite a storm in Kokomo! Daddy and Mommy got the two of you inside, changed your diapers, and got you both off to sleep; Daddy called Sister Kelly to check on her and explain what happened. Mommy and Daddy, through it all, safely navigated us all home, and those beds sure felt goodJJJJ!!!
Bodhi, you and your brother were exhausted by the time we returned home, however, seeing Grandmoo energized the two of you :) |
"Grandmoo's Buddha" So, happy to be home, out of the car, and Grandmoo was the icing on the cake for you, Juders! |
