Sleepy, Sleepy, Sleepy Sunday

Wow, what a sleepy day, especially for Mommy and Daddy! Even each of you slept in today, quite unusual. And after each of you and Daddy got up, Mommy slept in for some time still. It proved to be a sleepy, sleepy, sleepy Sunday!

We mostly lounged around all day, each of you having a banana for early breakfast, and then an egg sandwich for brunch. Mommy and Daddy watched Meet The Press of the tragedy in Connecticut and it clearly set a tone for a solemn, sad day. Mommy communicated on her computer through Facebook about the tragedy and exchanged some thoughts about what sense could be made of it and what might be changed to make for a more sane future for us all, especially for our children. Daddy is outright opposed to Facebook communication, and while Mommy is always sincere about her shared communicated thoughts, Daddy was angered by some of the sophomoric comments shared by Mommy as she reviewed some ideas communicated. Daddy is also persuaded that there is something narcissistic about Facebook, as well as much too intrusive upon a life built upon notions of secret agent culture. Oh well, it serves to demonstrate Mommy and Daddy is each their own person, respectful of one another, not easily swayed from one’ own instincts. Mommy and Daddy certainly share a perspective on the tragedy which is indicting of our own culture as too gratuitously violent, gun-crazy, and both ignorant and insensitive concerning mental health intervention needs. Events such as this serve to expose Mommy’s nurturing, thoughtful nature and Daddy’s angry and, yes, violent disposition. Mommy seeks to serve as a catalyst for needed societal change, Daddy stands steadfast in preparedness to preemptively strike any and all aggressors from visiting such carnage on his loved ones. We live in interesting times.

Both Mommy and Daddy were convinced the overwhelming sadness of Connecticut visited a loss of energy upon us this day, and so we slept through nap times and continued to nap and lay about the house lazily through the entire course of the day. Such is the nature of depression.

Brother Sean Francis stopped by briefly, and we attempted to break the cloud cover by watching a Christmas elf show together. Mommy made us a dinner of chicken nuggets and rice, then she prepared a bath for the two of you. Daddy researched the availability and cost of a carriage ride (apparently now visibly available in our community), and then we all just rather made our way to bed to bring a close to our day. Mommy and Daddy each know enough to count our blessings, and we count each of you, Emilia Bodhi and Jude Liam, as very special blessings indeed. We will regain our emotional balance, but we both doubt we will stop holding each of you closer and tighter for hugs and kisses---to be comforted as we comfort you. We are hopeful and thoughtful that all our friends and family will pray for a more peaceful world.

PS Mommy wants to add before getting busy working on making Christmas gifts, you now tell people when you don't want to kiss them....my kisses are in my mouth.  So Stinkin' cute!

Wally got hungry :)
