Today was a beautiful winter day,
some residual snow still on the ground, and quite cold outside. Daddy and
Bodhi, as usual, were the first ones up and about, Daddy working in the study
and Bodhi watching a cartoon show in the living room, enjoying some chocolate
milk and leftover cookies from Grandma’s house (Bodhi, you insisted that Buddha
would want a banana this morning, that he didn’t like cookiesJ). Buddha and Mommy
joined us much later this morning, and we finished the breakfast hour with a
banana (you were right, Ms. BodhiJ)
and apple juice and coffee (for Mommy, caffeine not for babiesJ).
It was a thoughtful morning for
Daddy, as a dear friend and colleague, Ms. Celestine Johnson, lost her mother
and her burial was today. Our prayers and meditations for her and her family
were expressly to comfort a very kind and faithfully loyal friend.
By mid-day, Daddy prepared
everyone a grilled cheese sandwich and some of Mommy’s green beans, potatoes
and sausage casserole for lunch, then asked Mommy to keep her word to Daddy and
stay with the two of you sequestered in the living room behind closed doors
while Daddy completed a secret Santa mission. Brother Sean Francis met Daddy at
the house as previously arranged at 1:00 p.m. and Daddy and him went to
Grandma’s to borrow her truck for our mission. Daddy needed a special item to
complement Mommy’s special Christmas gift, and a mutual friend at an antique
house collaborated with Daddy to select the surprise. Daddy explained to John
that this was a difficult selection, as Mommy was sure to be very judgmental
and difficult to please, but John assured Daddy this would be a perfect
selection. So, Brother Sean and Daddy picked the special surprise up and
delivered it to our bedroom and covered it with a special, magic, invisible
cloak to disguise it from MommyJ.
Daddy knew this was a big gamble, hoping somehow Mommy would enjoy the gift.
After our special mission, it was
of course nap time, and while the two of you slept, Mommy made a trip to some
stores for last minute shopping. Daddy awakened the two of you and prepared you
dinner of corn and corn dogs and a special Christmas treat beverage of Tahitian
punch soda. Mommy returned and we all went to the mall, so Mommy could run
inside to get some candles while we waited for her, then we hurried home to
meet everyone for our scheduled carriage ride!
We arrived home just in time to
meet with Sister Kelly and Brother Aaron and then Brother Sean Francis, and we
all then proceeded downtown to the courthouse square to start our scheduled
carriage ride. We had a bit of a wait so Mommy and Daddy bought everyone a
cappuccino until the carriage arrived. Our carriage was a beautiful open white
carriage drawn by a huge beautiful brown horse with a white mane. Eric from
Breezy Lane Carriage and his crew were wonderfully nice people and we all
boarded our carriage and enjoyed a wonderful, if very cold, ride west along
Sycamore street to the entrance to Forest Park edition and then back around
along Walnut street through the Old Silk Stocking Neighborhood (our
neighborhood!) right in front of our house (!) and behind the Seiberling
Mansion (where you, Buddha, insist Santa livesJ).
When we completed our carriage
ride (and a new family tradition was startedJ),
we all returned to our home for hot coffee and Irish creamJ and settled in for
some family time together before Sister Kelly and Brother Aaron had to head
home. Sister Kelly assured us she would rejoin us tomorrow morning for our trip
to Vincennes, and Brother Sean Francis settled in to stay the night, waiting
for Ariel to get off work and drive to Kokomo to join us for an overnight so
the two of them could travel with Sister Kelly to see Grandma Betty and our
family in southern Indiana.
So, a wonderful family day came
to a close as we all settled in for a night’s rest, in anticipation of our
journey tomorrow. Peace and love to all, and to all a good night---“night,
night.”

Two super excited babes! :) |
Sister Kelly and Brother Franky had you, Ms. Bodhi, waiving at cars as we passed (like a beauty queen) and saying "Hello peasants!" HA/HA! |
Our poor poor horse. I'm certain they gave him extra carrots for pulling all us large butts hee/hee |
