Today was a day none of us looked forward to, Daddy is committed at work from morning to night, and Mommy had to be out of town on a business trip to Ft. Wayne, with a winter advisory in the background and treacherous driving conditions lurking. The two of you, Bodhi and Buddha, we knew were in most capable care with Aunt Ti, and after Daddy dropped the two of you off this morning he knew Mommy shared his relief that you would be spending a long day in a loving environment.
But late this afternoon, Daddy received a phone call from Mommy saying to hurry straight home from work, that she was on her way to pick the two of you up from Aunt Ti’s and that you, Bodhi, were very sick, vomiting, with apparent flu-like symptoms—Andrew and Lizzie and Ellie were reported as very ill as well. Poor Aunt Ti had three vomiting little ones all at once. Aunt Ti reported that you usually come out from Ellie’s room after your naps, but today she heard you crying. She went in after you and found that you had vomited, and you continued to vomit. Aunt Ti said it was as though your heart was broken, you didn’t know what was happening to you. Minutes later, Lizzie vomited. Aunt Ti didn’t know if she was just queasy from you, Bodhi vomiting, but then Andrew started vomiting and she knew she was in trouble.
Daddy hurried home and anxiously awaited Mommy’s arrival so he could help bring the two of you inside from the bitter cold, and as I carried you in Bodhi you vomited again, and asked Daddy to take you to your bed. Daddy got you upstairs and Mommy brought Buddha along, where I was able to get both of you dressed in your warm pajamas while Mommy prepared you both dinner. Buddha, you ate a hearty dinner, and Bodhi you ate one mandarin orange and vomited againL
Mommy and Daddy alternated turns staying with you throughout the evening Bodhi, you precious little girl, you are so sick and still you are trying to vomit into a waste basket and every now and then smile bravely. Your little brother was so frustrated because he sensed something was wrong and he kept trying to get in bed with you, but of course we tried to keep him separated from you as much as possible, though we think he was the first sick with the virus. Buddha, you had diarrhea all day yesterday but you didn’t act sick and you didn’t run a fever.
You both will fully understand someday, there is no pain like that of watching as your child suffers from injury or illness. We will continue to nurture you back to good health baby girl, and look after you as well baby boy. Let’s hope for a restful evening for you both, the cold winter weather arrived today, and we want to keep you both sheltered in warmth for a safe and healing night! If love is medicine, you both are receiving the best care humanly possibleJ!
