Saturday Not In The Park

Saturday Not In The Park
There is a song by one of Mommy’s and Daddy’s favorite groups, Chicago, titled Saturday In The Park…but Indiana weather turned frigid cold again this weekend, so there was no Saturday in the park for the two you baby angelsL.
Bodhi, you have been talking up a storm (and your brother, Buddha, is starting to repeat many things you sayJ--he will be an early talker, the opposite of his sisterJ), and you have been telling everyone you have had “dinerena,” which I am sure everyone reading this can interpret for themselves, in fact some of us may agree you have come up with a more applicable term for the condition, at least under some circumstancesJ. Anyway, no word is beyond your effort these days, and Sister Kelly and Brother Aaron (and occasionally Mommy!) have you saying things like “turdburger” or some disgusting equivalentJ. Yes, I am sure some will recoil at the thought that adults allow their babies to learn, let alone speak, such words. I am trusting that the two of you will be prolific swearers (like Daddy) by the time you are independent adults, and that you will learn to utilize such colorful language in proper context. And those that don’t like it can kiss your Daddy’s rebel….
Speaking of being a contrary (an expression derived from a Dustin Hoffman film, and brilliant satire, titled “Little Big Man,” I expect you both to watch it someday, among many other classics Mommy and Daddy will share with youJ), someday you will learn there is an age difference between Mommy and Daddy and that it is the cause for some prejudice among fair-weather friends, neighbors, and strangers, not as severe an emotional deprivation suffered by many people of color or religion or gender or sexual orientation, but nonetheless a cause for pretentious criticism and hurt known as “ageism.” As activists, you will both grow to understand such terms, and such shallow people, and put it all in to proper context. And, yes, you will both grow to be activists—as it is the only true form of living your life to your fullest potential. To care passionately, to think critically, to understand valiantly, and to act upon all such gifts with a sense of life purpose. You both will be naturals, Daddy guarantees it!
One aspect of aging is quite objectively true and cruel, however, and that is that one tends to suffer natural reduction in body strength and stamina, and sadly it is happening with Daddy. Daddy has had a bout with serious back pain recently, and it is affecting his work, his demeanor, and most importantly his relationship with the two of you and Mommy. Daddy has to toughen up, and this is a promise—he will.
“Night, night” angels!!!
Daddy forgot to mention, Bodhi, Mommy started a new home improvement project yesterday (Friday)… hanging shelves on a hollow plaster wall in our entry.  You, Ms. Bodhi, were quite impressed with Mommy’s use of power tools and as Daddy previously mentioned, “colorful language.”  You assisted Mommy by handing tools and assisting with the level to see if the shelves were level.  You were such cute, and such a handy little assistant J  Mommy started this project Friday, and well… it continued today.  Mommy has went through countless molly screws and made several trips back to the hardware store to come up with alternatives…. Ugggh!  However, after 16 molly screws, liquid nails, and eight braces, our “floating shelves” are now regular shelves, and they are on the wall to stay!  J
Buddha chillin' after eating Buffalo Wild Wings and potato wedges :)-

Look at that form!  Future Mr. Indiana :)  Mommy and Daddy picked you and your sister each up a basketball that were on sale at Menards!  You two were super excited and have been playing with them non-stop.

This picture looks like you are a little Nazi Bo, but actually you were "jumping around... jump up, jump up, and get down!"

Yet another funky dance move!  I am certain that Aunt Ti taught you this one... she use to do it when we were in school :)-
