Indian Summer

Today was a Daddy Wednesday and seemed very much a late fall Indian Summer, as the temperature surely reached 80 degrees. We began our morning with toast and jelly and chocolate milk, and coffee for Mommy and Daddy. After breakfast Mommy supplied Daddy with selected outfits for the day and Daddy got the two of you dressed for a backyard adventureJ.

We took advantage of the incredible good weather and Daddy raked leaves as the two of you alternately would swing on the swing-set or frolic in the leaf pile Daddy constructed in the backyard. We invited Allie and Arlo to join us and to share the beautiful day, but that proved a bit of a mistake as we agreed to “capture” Pippen for our neighbors and secure him in their garage, but when Daddy attempted to get him Allie charged on us and away skirted PippenJ. Mommy came out to say her goodbyes as she made off for her volunteer work at the Animal Shelter, and you pleaded with her to stay Bodhi. Mommy assured us a fun day together and promised she would she us later, so we diverted our attention back to leaves and swingingJ. However, you did try to talk your Momma into allowing you to volunteer with her, but you are still too young L

At noon, Daddy brought our entire group back inside and made everyone lunch, corn dogs and green beans for Buddha and Bodhi and vegetable soup for Daddy, and dog food and some green beans for Allie and ArloJ. Both of you asked Daddy for chocolate milk, again, and Daddy gave in, though he is having some second thoughts about it, as your little butt has been especially sore for several days Jude LiamL. After lunch, we went upstairs to settle in for our nap, and we briefly watched some news program together in Mommy and Daddy’s bed---you have a tolerance for watching news Buddha that your sister only slightly shares. So, it wasn’t long before you were off to your own bed and an afternoon cartoon, Princess Bodhi, while Prince Buddha and Daddy continued to watch the news.

After about an hour, you refused to settle in for a nap, son, and you repeatedly told Daddy no so Daddy explained to you such behavior forfeited your chance to take a nap in Mommy’s bed and off to your crib you went---in all reality, Daddy should just put you down for your nap without discussion and maintain the consistency of the routine---Daddy is more of a pushover than Mommy.

Bodhi, you barely napped at all, and by the time Mommy got home and all of us were ready to return outdoors, you elected to stay in your bed—as you were both tired and ultimately, later quite fussy. Mommy and Daddy and young Prince Buddha greatly enjoyed a beautiful late afternoon and early evening of play and work together in our yard and garage---Buddha you were precious and adorable as you played so happily in the backyard, and Mommy completely cleared our entire yard of tons of leaves as Daddy made great progress in cleaning and organizing the garage. Daddy is intent on the garage accommodating Mommy’s car for the winter, and we are certainly inching our way to that goalJ.

As night fell, we all gathered for family time and chips and cheese and salsa and cheese dip and lunchmeat for a makeshift dinner, and though initially you were one emotionally tightly spun young lady, you eventually settled in so that we could enjoy our time together before bedtime. A beautiful day, a beautiful ending to a beautiful day, and two incredibly beautiful and uniquely special little angels off to dream land. Love, love, love!!!

Ha! Bodhi, after the boys were asleep, you joined Mommy for several hours, watching as I worked on my craft room.  You “ahhhh’d” over Mommy’s selections and assisted Mommy…even when Mommy didn’t need assistance hee/hee  You are so precious!
