Today was an extra hectic day.
Our land-line phone service has been out for days, and Daddy arranged for an
early morning service call from AT&T. Before the arrival of the service
technician, Daddy had to get up extra early and move all the many books in the
study from two large book shelves so as to access the phone jack receptacle.
Daddy theorized the problem was possibly the splitter on the phone line leading
from the phone jack back to the modem, as one line, and the other leading to
our fax/printer. Daddy also had to run to school quite early and leave some
materials for one of the criminal justice program instructors who was unable to
attend the faculty orientation meeting last night. Daddy was tired!
You got up quite early, Bodhi, as
is your practice and Daddy settled you in for one of your television programs
with some ice water and a banana, and you were content to allow Daddy to work.
You got up a bit later, Buddha, and as is your practice when you get up early
and are looking for Daddy you call out “DADA, ARE YOU DOWN THERE?” You are a
hoot! Daddy happened to be in the bathroom when you initiated your search and
you wandered into the mess of a crowed-cluttered study where all the furniture
had been moved about and books stacked everywhere, and Daddy heard you cry out,
“Daddy help me, I’m trapped!” What a character!
The repair technician (in
training) and an associate (his trainer) arrived, and Daddy proved somewhat
correct—the problem was indeed at the splitter, but not the splitter itself,
rather the fax/printer had a short and was causing the phone line to short out
of service—we will be getting a new fax/printer as Mommy must have a fax machine
for her consulting service.
Daddy hurried off after the phone
repair, as much work had yet to be completed before the start of classes for
the spring semester next Monday. The two of you were excited (and had been all
day) about the visit to GiGi and GiPa where you were to enjoy your evening and
enjoy dinner with them. Mommy and Daddy were excited, too, as we had a
scheduled date night—we planned to go out for dinner (complements of Grandmoo
who gave us gift cards for Grindstone Charlie’s).
When Daddy finally got off work
around 5 p.m., Mommy had already taken you both over to GiGi and GiPa. So,
Mommy and Daddy were off on our dinner date (catfish dinner and steak
dinner—and adult only beverageJ--and
dessert to go; Daddy wanted to smooch for dessert, but Mommy wouldn’t have itJ). Though we were to
pick the two of you up at 8:00 p.m., when we called GiGi informed us you wanted
more time, so we didn’t come to get you until about 9:00 p.m. You were both
tired, but as always you each had a great time with GiGi and GiPa, indeed when
we got there, you were both hiding from us, as though someone had already
gotten youJ--you
both are stinkers!
By the time we made our way home
and settled in for the night, we were all spent—Daddy could barely keep his
eyes open to compose a journal entry and almost fell asleep along the mellow
brick roadJ.
But Daddy awakened just in time to finish this sentence and to give thanks for
our blessings, especially two adorable angel babies who were well on their way
to “night, night.”
PS Still waiting on some wallets
to be mailed, and then the Grills’ side will be getting some family pictures,
and Papaw, you will be getting a care Christmas package compliments of Bodhi
and Buddha!
